Snr. Manager- Compliance & Data Protection

Job Scope
The Snr Manager – Compliance & Data Protection, will play a critical role in ensuring that the organization operates within the legal and regulatory frameworks governing Data Protection and Compliance. This leadership position requires a strategic thinker with an understanding of Data Protection laws, Compliance Standards, and the ability to implement and oversee effective Compliance and Data Privacy Frameworks including an Anti-money laundering and Counter Financing Terrorist (AML/CFT) Compliance Program. 

  • Develop, implement, and manage an effective Compliance Management Framework and supporting program policies to ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards;
  • Conduct periodic Compliance Risk Assessment and Audits, as well as ongoing monitoring of activities to ensure compliance issues/concerns are being appropriately evaluated, investigated, and resolved;
  • Identify measures to control and mitigate non-compliance occurrences, present recommendations for management’s consideration, and implement approved measures;
  • Foster a culture of awareness and accountability regarding compliance by developing training programs for the Board and staff on the Compliance programs including AML/CFT;
  • Interpret and analyze regulatory requirements and provide guidance to internal stakeholders, collaborating with them to resolve compliance related matters;
  • Perform the role of Data Protection Officer for CUNA Caribbean Insurance (CCI);
  • Promote a culture of Compliance with Data Protection and Cybersecurity legislation;
  • Identify and evaluate CCI data processing activities ensuring that all areas of the business are in alignment with Data Protection legislations;
  • Conduct comprehensive Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIAs) as required;
  • Monitor compliance with data management procedures;
  • Support the business continuity activities including updating of plans and coordinating testing exercises;
  • Monitor and review regulatory and legislative changes, preparing company’s response to regulatory changes and following up with appropriate areas to ensure required changes are implemented. 

  • Five (5) years’ experience in a similar role at a Finance Institution (e.g. Compliance, and Data Protection);
  • An additional degree in Compliance and/or Data Protection is an advantage;
  • Knowledge of the legal and regulation framework applicable to Insurance Companies;
  • Degree in Law, Management, Business Administration, Finance or Professional Qualification (e.g. ACCA or CMA);
  • Certificates of completion from nationally recognized compliance association are preferred (ICAT, CAMS);
  • Certificate in Data Privacy/Protection is an advantage;
  • Proficient knowledge of other Microsoft Office Applications;
  • Knowledge of statistics, data collection, analysis, and data presentation.
