Construction, Project Manager- Medical Cannabis Industry

Jamaican Medical Cannabis Collective (JMCC), a rapidly growing multi-faceted company in the medical cannabis industry, is searching for a Construction, Project Manager to plan and supervise construction projects from conception through to completion, interfacing with both construction professionals, internal JMCC employees, JMCC Partners, and external third party suppliers. The ideal candidate will organize and oversee construction procedures and ensure on-time and efficient completion.

The candidate must be well-versed in all construction methodologies and procedures and be able to coordinate a team of professionals of different disciplines to achieve optimal results. The incumbent will have an analytical mind and admirable organizational skills. The goal will be to ensure all projects are delivered on time according to requirements and without exceeding budget. The job includes both hands-on and administrative duties.

Job Responsibilities 
  • Working with the client relevant parties from the start of each project to ensure that the project scope and vision are clearly understood
  • Collaborating with architect, engineers and general construction contractor to determine the specifications and feasibility of the project
  • Processing change orders
  • Conducting meetings on-site with architect, engineers, third party suppliers and construction professionals
  • Preparing and submitting project estimates to the JMCC Executive sponsor
  • Negotiating contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements
  • Obtaining permits and licenses from appropriate authorities
  • Working with the general contractor and third party suppliers, to determine the needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
  • Leading and managing all parties (general contractor, suppliers, architects, etc.) in the planning of all construction operations and scheduling intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met
  • Provide oversight to the general contractor for the procuring of equipment and material and monitoring of stocks to timely handle inadequacies
  • Hiring contractors and other staff and allocate responsibilities
  • Supervising the work of general contractor, and any third party laborers, mechanics etc. and providing guidance when needed
  • Evaluating progress and preparing detailed reports
  • Ensuring adherence to all health and safety standards and reporting issues

Skills & Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Building Science or related field
  • Proven experience as construction project manager
  • In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, material and project management principles
  • Familiarity with quality and health & safety standards
  • Familiarity with construction/ project management software
  • Competency in use of MS Office suite
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • A team player with leadership abilities
  • Ability to provide work direction and leadership to staff.
