Local Representative-Jamaica

Caribbean HR Solutions is the Caribbean's premier HR Outsourcing company specializing in Executive Search, Recruiting, HRO, and Payroll services. On behalf of our client, The Ocean Cleanup, we are seeking to identify qualified candidates to fill the role of Local Representative-Jamaica.


Job Scope
As a Local Representative, you will be the main point of contact of The Ocean Cleanup in Jamaica. You are the link between the local partners, the Project Manager & the Central Operations Manager, who are based in the Headquarters in Rotterdam. With your technical background and project management experience you will lead the data collection scope of the project, focused on barrier efficacy and operations in Kingston Harbour, and potentially other locations in Jamaica.

 

Core Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Support data collection efforts by conducting research experiments.

  • Support the installation, improvements and maintenance of monitoring equipment

  • Coordinate implementation of research activities in Jamaica between our local partners, contractors, and the various departments at The Ocean Cleanup (waste management, analysis & performance, operations etc…)

  • Analyse and report results to the various teams

  • Regular visits to the Interceptors to monitor barrier performance and operations.

  • Collect feedback & take part in project meetings

  • Local coordination with Grace Kennedy Foundation, Clean Harbours Jamaica and with the Project Manager based in Rotterdam

  • Local representation with partners, contractors and authorities.

  • As a representative of The Ocean Cleanup in Jamaica, you ensure the execution of the agreed strategy and accountability to the Ocean Cleanup organization.

  • Report on project progress following The Ocean Cleanup internal processes.



Requirements and Qualifications

  • A relevant technical degree (e.g., marine sciences, geomatics…)

  • 5-7 years’ of experience in a project coordination role

  • Experience of working in Jamaica and understanding of the key players highly desirable

  • Fluent in English; knowledge of Jamaican Patois or local dialects is a plus. 

  • Experience with monitoring, reporting, and evaluation frameworks.

  • Enjoys sharing knowledge, communicating key information/findings

  • Flexible working hours

  • Able to deal with uncertainty, changes in scope and ambiguity

  • Able to perform well in a fast-paced and highly challenging environment

  • Excellent communicator

  • Curious, creative, and hands-on mentality. You can, and you like to execute things yourself.

  • Willingness to travel abroad if required
